What does "This code is not yet active" mean on Xbox?

This error means the code exists in Microsoft's system but has not been activated by the retailer who sold it. Every Xbox code needs to be activated at the point of sale. If the retailer skipped this step or had a system error, the code stays locked. You cannot fix this yourself — you need to contact the seller with your order confirmation and a screenshot of the error. They must activate the code or issue a replacement. Note: if you just purchased the code, wait up to 24 hours before contacting anyone, as some platforms take time to process activation.
