The Nintendo eShop accepts several payment methods depending on your account region. Common options include credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express), PayPal, Nintendo eShop gift cards (prepaid codes), and Nintendo Account balance (funds previously added to your account). In some regions additional local payment methods may also be available. Nintendo eShop gift cards are the easiest way to add funds without a card — simply redeem a 16-character code at ec.nintendo.com/redeem or through the eShop on your Switch and the balance is added instantly. Important things to know:
Payment methods must match your Nintendo Account region — a card issued in a different country may be declined
Nintendo eShop gift cards are region locked — make sure the card matches your account region before purchasing
You can combine your eShop balance with a card or PayPal to cover the difference if your balance doesn't fully cover a purchase
