You try to redeem your Nintendo code and get error 2813-0055 with the message "The item corresponding to the code you entered is not currently available. Please check the release date." Here's exactly what this means and every fix to try.
What This Error Means
Error 2813-0055 has two possible causes:
- The game or content hasn't been released yet in your region — you have a valid code but the game isn't available in the eShop yet
- The download code has expired — some codes have an expiration date and can no longer be redeemed
The fix depends on which situation you're in.
Fix 1 — Check If the Game Is Released in Your Region Yet
Open the Nintendo eShop on your Switch or go to nintendo.com and search for the game. If you can see it listed and available to buy — it's released and your code should work.
Important: games release at different times of day depending on your region. Even if a game has technically released, it may not be available in your specific country until a certain time. If the game shows as available in the eShop, wait a few hours and try redeeming again.
If the game is not yet listed in the eShop — you bought a pre-order or early access code. Simply wait until the official release date and try again. The code will work once the game goes live.
Fix 2 — Check the Code for an Expiration Date
Some Nintendo download codes have an expiration date — especially:
- Codes bundled with physical game purchases (box codes)
- Promotional codes from giveaways or events
- DLC bonus codes included with game purchases
- Old codes from games released several years ago
Check the card, receipt, packaging, or email that came with the code for an expiration date. If the code has expired, unfortunately Nintendo cannot reactivate expired codes. Contact the seller or retailer with your proof of purchase and explain the situation — they may be able to provide a replacement.
If you bought your code from GhostKeys, create a support ticket and we'll look into it for you.
Fix 3 — Check Your Nintendo Account Region
Error 2813-0055 can also appear if your code is from a different region than your Nintendo Account — even though this error is more commonly associated with 2813-6561.
Check your account region at accounts.nintendo.com → Profile → Country/Region. Make sure the region matches the code you're trying to redeem. A US code won't work on a European Nintendo Account and vice versa.
If the regions don't match, contact the seller for a replacement in the correct region.
Fix 4 — Re-Enter the Code Carefully
Before assuming the code is expired or unreleased — double-check you're entering it correctly. Nintendo codes are 16 characters and easy to misread:
- The letters I, O, and Z are never used — if you see one it's actually a number (1, 0, or 2)
- A 0 can look like an 8, and a 5 can look like a 2
- If you received the code digitally, copy and paste it rather than typing manually
Try entering the code again from scratch. If the same error appears after careful re-entry, move to the other fixes above.
Still Not Working?
If you've confirmed the game is released, the code hasn't expired, the region is correct, and you've re-entered the code carefully — contact Nintendo Support directly. They can look up the code on their end and confirm what it's linked to and whether it's still valid. Contact us using Live Chat 24/7
