PSN Code Not Working? How to Redeem It on PS5, PS4, Web & App (Full Guide)

3 min read

Just got a PSN code and not sure how to use it? Whether it's a wallet top-up card, a PS Plus subscription code, a game voucher, or DLC — the redemption process is the same. PSN codes are 12-character alphanumeric codes that you enter in the PlayStation Store. Here's every way to do it.
Method 1: PS5 Console (Recommended)
Redeem your code on PS5
- 01From the PS5 home screen, open the PlayStation Store.
- 02Press the triangle button or click the three dots (...) in the top-right corner of the store to open the menu. Select "Redeem Code."
- 03Carefully enter your 12-character code and select Redeem. Copy and paste it if you received it by email — don't type it manually to avoid typos.
- 04The credit, content, or subscription will be applied to your account immediately. For games and DLC, select Download to start downloading — or leave it for later. It will be in your Library whenever you're ready.
Method 2: PS4 Console
Redeem your code on PS4
- 01From the PS4 home screen, open the PlayStation Store.
- 02Scroll down to the bottom of the left sidebar and select "Redeem Codes."
Method 3: Web Browser
You can redeem PSN codes from any web browser without needing the console. This is useful if you're away from your PS5 or PS4 — the content syncs to your account automatically.
- Go to store.playstation.com and sign into your PSN account
- Click your profile icon in the top-right corner
- Select "Redeem Code" from the dropdown menu
- Enter your 12-character code and click Continue
- The content or funds will be applied to your account immediately
Method 4: PlayStation App (Mobile)
The PlayStation App on iOS and Android lets you redeem codes directly from your phone — handy when you receive a code by email or message.
- Open the PlayStation App on your phone and sign in
- Tap the PlayStation Store icon at the bottom of the screen
- Scroll down and tap "Redeem Code"
- Enter your 12-character code and tap Redeem
- The content syncs to your account and will be available on your console
Important Tips Before You Redeem
- Check your account region first. PSN codes are region-locked — a US code won't work on a UK account. Check your region at Settings → Account Management → Account Information → Country/Region.
- Copy and paste your code from your email instead of typing it manually. One wrong character will block the redemption.
- Make sure your wallet isn't at the limit. PSN wallets can hold a maximum of $250 USD equivalent. If your balance is near this limit, spend some before redeeming a wallet top-up code.
- Codes can only be used once and are permanently tied to the account that redeems them. You cannot transfer redeemed content between accounts.
