How to Fix PlayStation Error "The Voucher Code You Have Entered Is Invalid or Has Not Become Available Yet" (E-82000130 / WC-40372-6)

The E-82000130 or WC-40372-6 error message
You try to redeem a PSN voucher and get error E-82000130 or WC-40372-6 with the message: "The voucher code you have entered is invalid or has not become available yet." This error covers two different situations — either the code is genuinely invalid, or it exists but isn't active yet. Here's how to tell which one you have and what to do.

Reason 1: The Code Is Not Yet Active

Some PSN codes — especially pre-order bonuses, promotional codes, and codes bundled with physical game discs — have an activation date. The code exists and is valid, but it cannot be redeemed until that date. Fix: Check your physical card, the game case insert, or your order confirmation email for any activation date. If the code has a future activation date, simply wait until that date and try again. Do not share or attempt to use the code before the activation date as repeated failed attempts can trigger a rate limit lockout.

Reason 2: Typo in the Code

A single wrong character will cause this error. PSN codes are 12 characters — watch out for:
  • 0 (zero) vs O (letter O)
  • 1 (one) vs I (capital i) or l (lowercase L)
  • 2 vs Z
If you received the code by email or from a seller's website, copy and paste it directly instead of typing manually.

Reason 3: Wrong Region

PSN codes are region-locked. A US code will show this error on a UK account. Check your account region at Settings → Account Management → Account Information → Country/Region and compare it to your code's region. If they don't match, contact the seller for a replacement or refund.

Reason 4: Your Account Doesn't Meet the Voucher's Conditions (WC-40372-6)

Error WC-40372-6 specifically also appears when your account does not meet the conditions that the voucher is limited to. This includes:
  • Age restriction — some game or content codes require the account holder to be above a certain age. Child accounts or accounts with a birth year under 18 cannot redeem these.
  • Account type restriction — some promotional codes are limited to specific account types, new subscribers, or specific regions beyond just country.
  • Platform restriction — a code issued for PS5 content may not work on a PS4 account and vice versa.
Check whether the code has any usage restrictions in the listing or on the card. If it's an age restriction issue on a child account, the Family Manager will need to temporarily adjust age settings to allow the redemption — see our child account guide for details.

Reason 5: Code Has Expired

Promotional codes and pre-order bonus codes can expire. Check your card or order confirmation for an expiry date. Standard PSN wallet top-up cards and PS Plus subscription codes generally don't expire, but promotional codes typically expire 6–12 months after issue. If expired, contact the seller or PlayStation Support with proof of purchase.

Reason 6: Code Is Genuinely Invalid or Already Used

If none of the above apply, the code may be genuinely invalid — meaning it was never activated in PlayStation's system, was generated incorrectly, or was already used on another account. Before contacting anyone, check your transaction history: If the code isn't there, contact the seller with your order confirmation and a screenshot of the error for a replacement or refund.
