GTA 6 Scalpers Are Finding Buyers on eBay Despite Rockstar's Digital-Only Release

GTA 6 scalpers eBay pre-orders $225 markup vs $79.99 Standard MSRP Rockstar digital only release code in box no disc unlimited supply
The Numbers — Confirmed Sold Listings Above MSRP

Pre-orders for GTA 6 opened at midnight on June 25, 2026 — Standard Edition $79.99, Ultimate Edition $99.99, available at every official storefront (PlayStation Store, Xbox Store, Rockstar Games Store) plus Amazon, Best Buy, and Target in code-in-box format. Within hours, scalpers flooded eBay with marked-up listings — and shockingly, some buyers actually paid.

Per Dexerto, Game Rant, and Attack of the Fanboy this week, multiple eBay "recently completed" listings document buyers paying above retail: $138.20 + $17.03 shipping for a PS5/Xbox pre-order code, $120 + $9.53 shipping for a PS5 presale, plus Standard editions sold at $87.90, $93.22+$20.47, and $101.19. The Ultimate Edition has even sold above its $99.99 MSRP at $101.19. The most outrageous listing per The Gamer: $199 + $24 shipping = $225 total for the Standard Edition — nearly 3× MSRP for an unlimited-supply digital code. No bids on that one yet, but the $87-101 markups have sold multiple times.

Why This Shouldn't Be Working

GTA 6 has no scarcity. Even the physical edition is a code in a box — Rockstar's own pre-order page states "a disk will not be included." Digital licenses cannot run out. Every pre-order grants the same November 19 launch access and the same November 12 pre-load window. No early access exists. Any "limited stock" framing on a digital product is manufactured urgency.

Scalpers are exploiting buyer psychology — pattern-matching from GPU and PS5 hardware scalping (which had real scarcity) onto a product that has none. Anyone paying above MSRP is paying for packaging and impatience.

Don't Pay Above MSRP

Before buying any GTA 6 listing above $79.99 (Standard) or $99.99 (Ultimate), open PlayStation Store, Xbox Store, or ghostkeys.shop in another tab and verify availability — it almost certainly is in stock. We sell GTA 6 keys at ghostkeys.shop BELOW Xbox Store MSRP when stocked, the opposite of scalper pricing. Same team that publishes this content, instant key delivery for Xbox Series X|S.
